5 Teething Remedies That We Used!

Posted by Melissa Robertson-Bye on

Teething can be a terrible time. Not only is it rough because your baby or toddler can’t explain why they are in pain but there are so many remedies on the market and not all of them work for every baby.

Here are a few remedies that we used with Lilly when she was in the height of her teething.

  1. Frozen Chamomile Tea Wash Cloths - Chamomile is a  mild relaxant and also has anti-inflammatory properties. It can help both by relaxing your little one and offering soothing and easing relief of the symptoms of Teething. We would boil some water and add a tea bag. Let it steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Let cool. Dip the washcloth in the water. Wring out and place in the freezer. When a baby is bothered by their teeth, give them a frozen washcloth to chew and suck on.
  2. Distraction - We would try to distract Lilly and do something to keep her mind off the pain. Reading, a toy or a walk. This remedy only worked during the day as night time was supposed to be for sleeping.
  3. Camilia - This is an over the counter remedy. It is a
liquid that is pre-portioned to give to your child. It is
an herbal remedy that is found in any pharmacy.
We would give Lilly a dose of this as  needed and we found that it would help with the pain and inflammation
  4. Snuggles and cuddles - We would give her extra snuggles either on the couch or the rocking chair. She would love to zone out reading stories and being close to us. Maybe this is why she is so touchy feely now.
  5. Munching Monster Teething Products - We would give Lilly our products to chew and suck on. The great thing about the silicone is that it can go in the freezer so it gives a nice cooling effect on the gums. Between products that clip to you or the rings that work as bracelets. Knowing that they are non-toxic, safe and colourful for Lilly.

These are just a few of the remedies that are out on the market. I know other friends that used breastmilk popsicles, frozen fruit, wooden toys, and pain relief products. Not all remedies work for all babies which is why there are so many different options out there.
